Easy read Sustainable Hertfordshire survey 2025

Hello! We want to hear from you about how Hertfordshire can do things in a way that doesn’t hurt the environment too much. This is called being sustainable.

In this survey we show hard words in bold.

We explain these harder words at the bottom of the page.

Before you start the survey, you might like to know why we need your information.

1. Do you think it is important to do things in a sustainable way?

2. What things do you do to protect the environment? Choose all that apply:

3.
Tell us what makes it hard for you to protect the environment more.

4.
Which part of Hertfordshire do you live in?
(If you're not sure which district/borough you live in, check the logo on your wheelie bins.)

5. Do you take part in any activities that help protect the environment in your area?

6. Are people in your area given enough opportunities to join in and help take care of the environment?

7. Should Hertfordshire County Council make protecting the environment a top priority?

8. Choose up to 3 things that are most important for a sustainable Hertfordshire?

9. How do you want us to keep you updated on sustainable matters in Hertfordshire?

Sustainable means doing little or no harm to the environment.
Renewable energy is when we use the sun, wind or water to
create electricity. It is more friendly towards the environment
than burning coal.
Composting is when you turn leftover food into plant food.
Carbon emissions come out of planes, cars and factories
and are harmful to the environment.
