This questionnaire relates to the information in the Consultation document regarding our Short Breaks Local Offer (SBLO).
Hertfordshire County Council is seeking views on the future of Short Breaks, known as ‘Short Break Local Offer’ (SBLO) for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
SBLO provide support for children and young people with SEND and their families, offering opportunities to enjoy activities, build independence, make friends, and spend time with or away from family.
Activities can include: Holiday activities, After-school and weekend clubs, Youth groups, Buddying support.
No changes are proposed to other Short Breaks services, including overnight short breaks, shared care, direct payments, homecare support or other specialist services.
Before making any decisions about the future of the SBLO service, we want to seek views on a proposed targeted, needs-led approach, where children's needs are looked at through an assessment. Children and young people who need the most support would be prioritised for Short Breaks.
Hertfordshire County Council will also continue to develop and promote its wider Community Short Breaks Universal Offer, including for example The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Community Activities Directory and Herts Card.
